Dong Collado, 62, has been singing on the streets for forty years. He learned to play the guitar by himself. He earns from 200 to 600 ($10) pesos each time. He comes to this place three times a week. Authorities allow him to play freely; they never bother him. 

His wife assists him all the time. She complains about other beggars coming near him. If a mother and a child, she says, come near her husband, people would tend to take pity more on them than on a blind singer. So, she would ask them to move a little far from her husband.
